Superstar cult sensation Dina Martina has had hugely successful shows in New York and Provincetown and made gushing fans of the likes of John Waters, Whoopi Goldberg, Matt Stone, and Jennifer Coolidge.

Now she’s opening wide, so to speak, with her first “presidential video”! Watch her batshit insane first campaign commercial (kind of? maybe?)(made with collaborators Shane Wahlund and Michael Anderson) below. She’s got my vote!

“Dina Martina goes way beyond drag into some new kind of twisted art.” – John Waters

“Comic genius. I’ve never seen anything as brilliant or as funny as Dina.” – The Atlantic

“The most original drag performer working in America today. A master comic.” – The Village Voice

With so many celebrations being cancelled due to COVID-19, the following video was filmed safely from within quarantine walls and includes cameos from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 winner Aquaria, Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly, All-stars Shea Coulee, Latrice Royale, Trinity The Tuck, Valentina and British/Irish queens Divina De Campo, Cheryl Hole, Blu Hyrdrangea alongside the legendary Lady Bunny. They’re performing a re-imagining of an iconic song “Always” to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the start of Pride season. The song – by Waze & Odyssey and Tommy Theo – has been given the seal of approval from all artists for the first time in musical history, with both the late George Michael and Mary J. Blige now listed as credited artists.

“The sound of the summer has arrived in the shape of this incredible anthem, which is set to meteorically rise with the addition of these world class queens.”

“Not today, cancer. Not today.”

Season six superstar Darienne Lake recently opened up about her recent cancer scare.

“I had a biopsy done and it’s positive for melanoma (cancer) I had surgery 2 weeks ago to take out more tissue, and lymph nodes to make sure it didn’t spread,” she revealed, alongside some “graphic” photos of her leg.

“Good news is that the doctors got it all before it could spread. I have a couple of gnarly scars. I didn’t want to say anything to anyone until I heard the diagnosis.”

Darienne then joked: “Just my luck to live somewhere where the sun shines 12 days a year and I get skin cancer. But, things look good and if I smell like sunscreen from now on, you’ll know why. 2020 is a cunt, but I’m a bigger cunt. Not today, cancer. Not today.”

In the star’s next Instagram post, she said she’s “tough as nails and doing great” and thanked fans for all the love, adding: “Wear sunscreen, check yourself for moles, or send me nudes and I’ll do it.”

A number of Drag Race stars have shown their support, including Adore Delano, April Carrion, Courtney Act, Bianca Del Rio, Blair St. Clair, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Kandy Ho, Mrs Kasha Davis, Manila Luzon, Thorgy Thor, Pandora Boxx and Willam.

Bianca wrote: “When I saw the word “cancer” I wasn’t sure if you were referring to ME! I’m glad you are well my shady elephant.”

Thorgy told Darienne to “put some glitter on it and go dancing” (HA!) and said she “cannot wait until we get to rip each other apart on the stage”.

Get well soon, Lady, we love you!

Read before you scroll. Warning graphic. Story time: over the last few months I’ve noticed a mole on my leg. Good news is that the doctors got it all before it could spread. I have a couple of gnarly scars. I didn’t want to say anything to anyone until I heard the diagnosis. Condragulations!

For the first time ever, Vogue has a pair of drag queens as their cover stars!

For the October issue of Vogue Brazil, Pabllo Vittar and Gloria Groove share alternating covers of the illustrious fashion mag. Vittar, of course, is an accomplished drag musician who has won multiple trophies from MTV and has been nominated for a Latin Grammy for her records. She also BY FAR the most followed queen on Instagram.

“I want, I can, I can do it,” Vittar said in the cover feature according to a translation. “I always knew I was going to get where I am. It is not wrong for you to love yourself, to take care of yourself. People will have to learn to respect you for who you are ”

For the cover, she wears head to toe Gucci, and was shot by Hick Duarte.

The second cover features Gloria Groove in a glorious pink Marie Antoinette wig adorned with Gucci pins.

Gloria might not be as well known in the US, but she’s set to host Netflix’s newest drag reality show A Queen is Born. On it, she helps new queens transform into working professionals. The show is expected to debut in November.

Outside of the series though, Groove has made a name for herself as both an actress and singer.

“I came in the car researching Vogue‘s most iconic covers and absorbing the fact that now it is my turn,” she said in the story. “I am living a dream and I am thrilled with the invitation because being here positions drag queens as fashion icons.” She is dressed in Gucci as well, photographed by Hick Duarte.

It should be noted that in 2007, Andre J was featured on the cover of Paris Vogue in a dress and heels alongside supermodel Carolyn Murphy. Andre, however, does not identifyy as a drag queen.

Luna Rei

Age: 31

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

About:

“Hola! I am Luna Rei, a Mexican, non-binary drag artist. My pronouns are they/them out of drag and she/her in drag. I have been painting mugs and performing for over 3 years. I am proudly a self-taught artist. I love to use my make-up skills and fashion obsession to push myself on how I present myself visually through my drag art.

With my drag work, I like to transform to be femme creatures of other realms and to pay homage to my culture. My work on stage is a continuation to what you see on social media, a fantasy seducing an audience in Spanish. I have also done queer wrestling with Choke Hole…which is one of the wildest things I have done in drag.

I am a leukemia survivor, so it’s important to me to be living in the moment, and my drag art allows me to do that. I know for sure that by continuing to pursue it, means I am living my best life, honoring that little boy in a hospital not knowing what the world had for him after chemotherapy. My drag work allows me to do something that brings joy to others and to myself. Most importantly, it allows me to represent and show the world what a brown immigrant can do. That itself is why I continue to push myself to constantly grow as a person and artist.
